The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) welcomed 70 new fellows into the U.S. Digital Corps (USDC), a program designed to offer early-career technologists a chance to apply their skills within the federal government.

The recent recruitment cycle, which saw a record-breaking 2,000 applications, marks the third group of USDC fellows and includes individuals dedicated to AI and AI-related initiatives, in alignment with the National AI Talent Surge.

“Growing the U.S. Digital Corps is crucial to driving innovation across the federal government, especially as emerging technologies like AI evolve. GSA is focused on delivering great value to our customer agencies and the American people, so we are proud to help lead the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to bring tech talent into government to deliver those results,”  GSA Administrator Robin Carnahan said.

The candidates will get the chance to work in technologies such as to work in cybersecurity, data science and analytics, design, product management, and software engineering.

GSA said in a statement that since 2021, USDC has recruited over 150 early-career technologists and has supported projects of national significance at 25 agencies.

Of the graduates from USDC’s inaugural 2022 cohort, around 95% opted to stay with the federal government after their fellowship, continuing their service to the American people.

Earlier this year, in partnership with the Office of Management and Budget (OMB),  GSA unveiled the establishment of a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) tasked with furnishing the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) with specialized expertise.

This initiative aims to enrich decision-making regarding the technical, strategic, and operational trajectory of the program.
