Set in a serenely pastoral part of the tri-state area, Walhill Farm is an award-winning special event locale offering charismatically charming – and amazingly affordable – spaces for weddings, family reunions, corporate get-togethers, and other group gatherings. Located on the outskirts of Batesville, Indiana, the farm also regularly hosts fundraisers, concerts, and the annual Bacon, Blues and Brew Music and Arts Festival.
The popular event backdrop – deemed as beautiful as it is inspirational – includes a renovated 12,000 square foot barn for large celebrations, a converted chicken coop that now serves as the 11,000 square-foot Bavarian-style Sulky Lodge, a restaurant and its own butcher shop. The Inn at Walhill Farm sports The Honeymoon Room, the Caribbean Room, the Hoosier Room (ADA compliant) and The Pony Room.
The 250-acre sustainable working farm also boasts 26 acres of hardwood forest, 10 acres of gardens, three large fish ponds and 190 acres of pasture.
"It’s a unique venue, offering rustic elegance, where the food is a step above because we’re in a country – not a city – environment," says owner Peter Hillenbrand. "And to say that our pricing is a fraction of what you find in the city is an understatement."
Walhill Farm, as it stands today, sprung from the ashes of Peter’s uncle George Hillenbrand’s Greenburg, Indiana, thoroughbred trotter and pony farm, which was destroyed in a horrific fire in 1958. In 1960 George and his wife, Peg, rebuilt the farm at its current location just 15 miles south of the
original farm.
Walhill Farm is located at 857 Six Pine Ranch Road, Batesville, IN, 47006. For more information, call 812.934.2600, email info@walhillfarm.com or visit www.walhillfarm.com.
