CINCINNATI, Ohio – Rookwood Pottery has made it even easier to find the perfect gift for the ‘mom’ in your life (or yourself) with the launch of a new website and the debut of a full Spring Collection at this year’s annual Spring Open House, May 11 and 12.
The new Rookwood.com offers customers expanded offerings in products, proprietary glazes, and a further customized approach to the handcrafted quality the company is known for. Customers can shop local pride in the Cincinnati Shop, find Mom’s favorite vases in new palettes (each season), and more than ever, find the right gift for the right occasion. The entire Architectural Tile Collection has also been digitized, including glaze and tile samples, specs, and tips on incorporating Rookwood art into your installation.
In tandem with the new website reveals, which give Rookwood Pottery shoppers a glimpse into the new lineup, the Spring Open House on Mother’s Day Weekend will debut the complete Spring Collection. This ‘motherload’ of new color palettes, product lines, and gifts, with open house-only collaborations is "the perfect opportunity to bring together a community of artisans," says Director of Retail, Sandrine Whitcomb. Exclusive collaborations offered at the Factory/Showroom include new artisanal cheeseboards and cheese tastings led by The Rhined, Rookwood Pottery’s famous archival and contemporary vases in new seasonal glazes brimming with buds by Gia & the Blooms, and new hanging and standing planters and garden markers featuring greenery curation by Fern – all come with a 10% discount on customers’ next visit to the featured vendors.
Attendees can explore just how these one-of-a-kind pieces were made with behind-the-scenes tours and hand-throwing demos led by artist Morgan Willenbrink, Lead Thrower and creator of Rookwood Pottery’s spring forms. Willenbrink will also be joining four other Rookwood Pottery’s artists to personally sign Mother’s Day purchases for guests. The lineup includes Willenbrink’s co-designers of the recently released Flying Pig Marathon Mug and Flying Pig Marathon Ornament, Zach Sabatelli, and the company’s Art Director and designer of the celebrated Fiona the Hippo commemoratives, Mary Guanciale. Tenured artist, Allan Nairn, and designer, Claire Masten, will also be on-site.
Accompanying the day-long offerings are locally sourced and crafted selections of food, refreshments, and Lagniappe, a New Orleans-style jazz quartet – after all, it’s a party. Coffee Emporium will be providing complimentary coffee for the early risers and as attendees head into brunch hour (Cincinnatian’s favorite meal), ales and sparkling wines will be ready for the farmers market-style food options catered by Coppins, Epicurean Mercantile Co., O Pie O, Peace and Love Eatery, and Sartre.

The Rookwood Pottery Company was founded in Cincinnati in 1880 by a woman named Maria Longworth, making Rookwood Pottery one of the first woman-owned manufacturing companies in the United States. Continuing its legacy as woman-owned, Marilyn Scripps revived the company over ten years ago and owns Rookwood today. Empowered by its heritage, Rookwood Pottery continues to produce 100% American-made, artisan quality ceramic pottery and tile.
