Ali Asbury Howard, President of Thrive Memory Care at West Chester, is emphatic explaining what is at the heart of Thrive’s memory care program. The state certified people who staff the Thrive community, their desire to be there for the residents, the training they receive before they work with residents and continuing over the course of their careers all combine to create a safe caring environment for seniors living with memory impairment.

Thrive provides activity-rich programs for residents, but participation in these activities is up to the resident. The goal is to provide opportunities for engagement and meaningful interaction. With a 1 to 6 ratio of staff to residents, care is taken to treat each resident as an individual, tailoring care plans and programs to meet their unique needs. The staff to resident ratio supports the goal for each resident to have contact with a Care Specialist once an hour.

Attention is also focused on Thrive’s care-givers. Howard likes to say, “Built People Build People.” Thrive at West Chester’s staff receive ongoing, continuing education. The pursuit of outside education and certifications is encouraged to create meaningful career paths. Care Specialists work in close collaboration supporting each other to reduce stress and prevent burnout.

Residents at Thrive at West Chester enjoy a new community, constructed with a well-designed mix of private and community areas. Residents’ shared dining rooms, kitchens and living rooms provide diverse opportunities for engagement, conversation and reminiscing. An enclosed outdoor park provides fresh air, exercise space and raised bed gardening. The park is supplemented with bi-weekly outings to Liberty Center or to local events. Inside amenities include a spa bath and hair and nail salon.

Resident’s suites, Classic and Companion, have separate controls for heat and air conditioning. Suites are outfitted for comfort. “We do not believe in scaling down amenities for memory care residents.” says Howard.

IN2L is an industry-leading mind stimulation technology, with over 200 games and applications to assist seniors with memory enhancement. Care Specialists work with Program Specialists to use IN2L’s applications to create senior-friendly computer interaction that allow residents to communicate with family and friends and to bridge across memory conditions into enjoyable past activities and experiences.

Coming up on their one year anniversary, Thrive at West Chester can celebrate the superior level of memory care they provide to their residents, the accomplishments of their staff and coalescing as a team, eager to provide the best memory care and their integration into the community serving families throughout the area.

Thrive Memory care is located at 7200 Heritagespring Drive, West Chester, OH 45069. For more information, call them at 513.342.8889 or visit www.thriveatwestchester.com
