Our wedding day was a fairytale, despite the muggy June weather and my husband being tossed in the pool at Kenwood Country Club still fully clothed in his tux (this is a family wedding tradition that started with my dad and his brother tossing each other in the pool in their tuxes 30 years ago). It was easily the most fun that I’ve ever had and Sam and I felt extremely special to be surrounded by our closest friends and family.

Our honeymoon was the trip of a lifetime. Neighbors of my parents let us borrow their beautiful home in Park City, Utah and we spent the week in the mountains – riding horses, hiking, fly fishing, eating in delicious five-star restaurants, and exploring the adorable town. The week went by entirely too fast and we returned home empty handed with nothing but memories and pictures to remember the most amazing time of our lives… or so we thought.

On July 6, 2015, I went to the grocery to pick up food for dinner after a long day of work, I walked in through the sliding glass doors and was hit with the familiar wave of Starbucks, flowers, and food. Usually it smelled like Heaven but that day I turned right back around and bee-lined for the nearest garbage can to get sick. I went home thinking I caught the flu, but the rest of the night I felt fine so I thought it must have been a fluke.

The next day I stopped back at Kroger to get the items that I wasn’t able to purchase the day before. I walked into the grocery store and was once again filled with the urge to get sick. Suddenly a weird thought flashed through my mind… was I pregnant? I went straight to the ladies intimates’ aisle and picked up two boxes of pregnancy tests and headed home.

Five tests later it was official, I was pregnant. Our due date was March 17, 2016, but our little missy debuted five days early. On March 12, 2016, a day before our nine month anniversary, we gave birth to a beautiful 9 pound 11 ounce beautiful little girl named Reese Elizabeth, and that day was hands down the happiest day of our lives. She has been such a blessing and Sam and I couldn’t be more proud to be her parents.

When we got married we envisioned our one-year anniversary going out to the bars until two AM, coming home to our dog, and spending the day after nursing our hangover quietly on the couch together. Much to our surprise we spend our one-year anniversary going to an early dinner at Nada so that we could make our way home to bed and take advantage of Reese spending the night at grandma and grandpas… by sleeping, but we wouldn’t change how we celebrated for the world.

Reese was by far the best wedding gift that we could have given each other!
