Everything at Kenwood Country Club feels special. From the moment you pull into the meticulously manicured driveway lined with magenta Impatiens, until you find a parking spot at the edge of a row of shade trees, all is lovely. KCC was the perfect choice for The American Cancer Society 11th Annual Cincinnati Golf Classic held on August 31. 

The day began with friendly chipping and putting contests, optional massages provided by Massage Envy and a casual drop-by lunch courtesy of Trio and Embers, sponsored by AAA Allied Groups, Inc. At 12:50 p.m. there was a reverent bagpiper call to the carts for a shotgun tee time of 1:00 p.m. Immediately following play was a cocktail reception and dinner, provided by Jeff Ruby’s Carlo & Johnny. WLWT-TV5’s Sheree Paolello gave the welcome and opening remarks. A live auction provided hearty entertainment after dinner, followed by inspiring words from honorees, Julie and Vince Hopkins. The day was full both literally and figuratively. The activities were non-stop and fun yet the purpose and goal were heart-warming and noble. Many event sponsors and cheery volunteers clad in yellow collared shirts helped make the day a blazing success. Debby Rosen, American Cancer Society staff partner, told me that over the previous 10 years of this event, $2.2 million dollars has been raised for the ACS for Cincinnati and around the world. The involvement in the Cincinnati Golf Classic allows the ACS to help people in our community stay well, get well, find cures and fight back.
