Alzheimer’s is often referred to as the "disease of the 21^st century." The sixth-leading cause of death in the United States today, the number of people affected by Alzheimer’s will nearly triple by the middle of the century, unless medical research can discover an effective treatment or cure.

While researchers still face an uphill battle finding a cure, major advancements in Alzheimer’s research are being made, providing true hope for the future.

Dr. Heather Snyder (pictured), director of Medical and Scientific Operations for the national Alzheimer’s Association, visited Cincinnati on March 23 for a series of special presentations on the latest progress in Alzheimer’s research. Dr. Snyder spoke to audiences at Cooper Creek Event Center in Blue Ash (pictured) as well as the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and the Adams County Medical Center. Nearly 300 people attended these free Chapter-sponsored events.

The Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Cincinnati serves 27 counties in Southern Ohio, Southeastern Indiana and Northern Kentucky where an estimated 50,000 people have Alzheimer’s disease.
