Founded in 1989, Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams based its manufacturing in the beautiful countryside of Taylorsville, North Carolina, and remains there today. Spanning more than one million square feet, skilled artisans work hand-in-hand with designers to bring their vision to life. Mitchell and Bob often refer to their factory as a finely tuned symphony.

At the company’s rural headquarters, Mitchell and business partner Bob Williams established a not-for-profit, education-based daycare center (a first in the residential furniture industry) for employees and local community members and a health-conscious gourmet café run by the company’s corporate chef. The company also provides health fairs, an on-site nurse and college scholarships for children of employees.

Early in their partnership, Bob inspired Mitchell by saying he simply wanted to create the kind of company where people want to come to work. Today, that company offers a truly inspiring work environment.

Along with Williams, Mitchell introduced a home furnishings collection inspired by CBS’s Emmy-winning legal drama The Good Wife. The first license for a TV series, it was developed in collaboration with set decorator Beth Kushnick, and was expanded through the seventh and final season in 2016. Their designs have also been featured in various other TV shows and movies, including the visible-on-air, glass-enclosed Green Room of CBS This Morning.

Bob Williams is co-founder and president of Design for Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams. He and Mitchell Gold founded their renowned home furnishings company 29 years ago with an investment of $60,000. Today they head a multi-million dollar brand with a growing chain of 30 Signature Stores. Cities include NYC, DC, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Kansas City, Beverly Hills, Scottsdale and San Juan, as well as Toronto and Montreal. Expansion continues with Austin, Texas, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania and Cincinnati, Ohio.

Within each Signature Store is a Custom Shop where you will meet friendly and talented designers who are ready to work with you to share their expertise and your ideas. The Custom Shop is a wonderland of sensory happiness.
