John Beieler has been appointed as the inaugural Chief AI Officer for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), which spearheads the Intelligence Community.
Reportedly, Beieler affirmed his additional role while speaking at an event organized by the Intelligence and National Security Alliance in Arlington, Virginia.
This new responsibility supplements his existing position as the Assistant Director of National Intelligence for Science and Technology (S&T).
He started as a Program Manager at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and has had multiple roles in his nearly seven years-long association with the office. Previously, he served as a research scientist at Johns Hopkins University.
Beieler has a Ph.D. in Political Science and Government from Penn State University and a Masters Degree in Political Science. He graduated from Louisiana State University.
The appointment follows the Office of Management and Budget’s (OMB) new AI policy which mandates all federal agencies to designate a Chief AI Officer by May 27, 2024.
