Junaid Farooq, Former SVP and Enterprise Head of Data Management & Strategy at First Citizens Bank, Joins CDO Magazine Global Editorial Board

(US and Canada) We are delighted to announce that Junaid Farooq, a seasoned leader in Data Strategy and Management, Financial Services, and Information Technology, has joined CDO Magazine's Global Editorial Board. Over the past two decades, Farooq has held significant roles at global investment banks, asset management firms, hedge funds, and Big 4 consulting firms, establishing himself as a respected figure in the industry.

Most recently, Farooq spearheaded the Data Governance Strategy for two significant back-to-back bank acquisitions, CIT ($100B) and Silicon Valley Bank ($200B). He led cross-functional teams to drive integration across merging entities to ensure adherence to all relevant financial regulations. He also focused on supporting the combined entity to derive value from data and achieve deeper insights to enhance growth, profitability, and operational capabilities.

He designed and implemented the Enterprise Data Management & Governance Program for the combined entity with a multiyear data maturity journey to achieve a target state operating model for core capabilities such as governance & oversight, metadata management, data quality, and data risk & controls.

Farooq's past technical leadership extends to overseeing engineering teams responsible for architecting, designing, building, and deploying innovative solutions, from rapid prototypes to large-scale applications. His collaborative work with Chief Technology Officers and Chief Information Officers to create future state platforms that ensure the convergence and alignment of all data programs further demonstrates his ability to work in a team and his forward-thinking approach.
