US Department of the Air Force Appoints Chandra Donelson as Acting CDAIO

Chandra Donelson, Department of the Air Force Acting CDAIO

(US and Canada) The Department of the Air Force has appointed Chandra Donelson as the acting Chief Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer (CDAIO). The announcement was made by the department’s CIO office in a LinkedIn post.

In this role, Donelson will be responsible for “developing and implementing DAF-wide strategies for enterprise data management, analytics, digital transformation, and responsible/ethical artificial intelligence to optimize performance and drive innovation in and across all missions and operations.”

Donelson will continue to serve concurrently as the Space Data and Artificial Intelligence Officer in the Pentagon. In this position, she is responsible for developing and enforcing the service’s data, analytics, and AI strategy and governance policies, providing oversight for data assets, improving data access and use, and fostering a data and AI-driven culture.

Prior to this, she served as the Deputy Chief Data Officer for the Army G-2 from 2021-2023.

Donelson also is a member of CDO Magazine’s Global Editorial Board, participates in the CDO Magazine Federal Forum, has spoken at multiple summits, and was named in the 40 Under 40 Data Leaders 2023 List.
