(US and Canada) Subha Madhavan, Vice President & Head of Clinical AI/ML and Early Clinical Development at Pfizer, speaks with Michael C. Sharing her approach to hiring talent, Madhavan says that the organization looks for people who can go up and down the value chain. They are not just experts in specific areas but can also tie their expertise to business problems.

She notes that universities today are thinking about convergence in the context of training the next generation of professionals.

Madhavan says it’s essential to learn from peers and to stay up-to-date when entering the field of data science and analytics.

• Collaborate with the right people.
• Find the right sponsors, not just mentors, who will create opportunities for you.

For retaining and developing talent, Madhaven suggests the following:

1. Making sure their work is challenging.
2. Help them leverage their skills to make an impact.
3. Put them on smaller entrepreneurial teams.
