(US and Canada) Mike Giresi, Chief Digital Officer at Molex, speaks with Derek Strauss, Chairman, Gavroshe, about enterprise data architecture, enhancing the operating model, and building teams.
First, Giresi speaks on Molex’s process and data improvements to ignite customer advantage for business and financial ROI. He points out that just implementing new technology and customized ways of working does not scale and provide a competitive advantage. He says that the need is to interact with customers.
According to Giresi, a new operating model had to be implemented to bring capabilities to the market in a differentiated way. From an operating process perspective, there were many different ways that data was being created and managed or not managed without generating value.
He indicates that this challenge required a new way of thinking about data from an enterprise asset perspective to enable customers to directly correlate the quality of the information being used. Also surfacing was the need to work off information that has efficacy and was actually actionable.
Further, Giresi explains that these developments led to a more action-oriented data governance program that aided thinking about the value of data in terms of customers and then the processes that consume the data. The need is to take feedback from the frontline and incorporate it into the rest of the operating model.
Giresi reveals that the organization had to change their operating model, to approach data as the enabler, and to break down cultural barriers. He mentions that a lot of time has been spent focusing on the architecture of the business, how employees work together and complement one another, and all the data required to do that.
Concluding, Giresi says that success requires the right team and the right talent working together to achieve it.
