About 60 executives strategically aligned in data, analytics, information security, and information technology came together at CDO Magazine’s Cincinnati Tech City Leaders’ Meeting. The event was hosted by Fifth Third Bank at their downtown Cincinnati headquarters on September 7.

This region of the U.S. Midwest is exploding as a talent hub for innovation, serving as an ideal backdrop for an engaging discussion around the topic of “Identity and Data as the Building Blocks for a Modernization Effort.”

Leading the talk was a panel of industry thought leaders from Fifth Third Bank including speakers Nate Murray, Chief Data Officer; Seetharaman Kishor, Line of Business Chief Information Officer; Lori Anello, Chief Information Security Officer; and moderator, Brian Minick, Chief Technology and Information Security Officer.

The discussion focused on:

  • How identity and data are foundational to a modernization effort

  • How modernization impacts enterprise data and information security

  • The impact that modernization has on bottom line business

Key points were:

  • In today's market, it's important to have a data/technology strategy that enables customers to have access to their data quickly, while at the same time considering confidentiality, integrity and availability.

  • Digital transformation requires pre-planning and strategic thinking to implement it properly.

  • There are special considerations when you have a hybrid between a mainframe and the cloud.
