CDO Magazine gathered 22 senior data executives for its inaugural lunch of the Toronto CDO Forum community on October 7 at the Royal Bank of Canada Conference Center in downtown Toronto.

CDO Magazine CEO Steve Wanamaker introduced the Toronto CDO Forum Organizing Committee – RBC Chief Data Officer Rex Davis, Apotex Senior Director of Enterprise Data and Analysis Aida Tahiri, Symcor Chief Data and Privacy Officer Della Shea, Flexiti Data Engineering VP Anu Oladele, BMW Group Financial Services Canada Business Intelligence & Data Manager Owen Tak, and Sandhill Consultants VP Robert Lutton.

Wanamaker highlighted the vision of the Toronto CDO Forum and discussed how the local community is connected to global thought leadership through the CDO Magazine community worldwide. Executive Committee members Davis, Shea and Tahiri emphasized the importance of community, and how they and their peers can learn from and celebrate one another. Ultimately, Wanamaker added, “We want to make people’s lives better because of our community.”

The vision of the Toronto CDO Forum is to build a deeper community among greater Toronto area data and analytics executives, and help champion collaboration on interests and challenges unique to their disciplines. It provides a vendor-free space for members to:

  • Collaborate on ideas and solutions to common problems

  • Learn from one another, mentor or be mentored by others from their own experience

  • Build a trusted and credible network of leaders

  • Create opportunities to raise the CDO profile within the community

"Not only was it a great start, but it's clear that these CDO Forums offer something that has been missed to date. A chance to build a local CDO community that links into a larger CDO community, all thanks to a vision from CDO Magazine and Steve Wanamaker,” says Lutton. “Looking forward to the next session already."
