UAE Launches Charter for Development and Use of AI

The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications Office has launched the Charter for the Development and Use of Artificial Intelligence in the UAE.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, stated that under his leadership, the UAE government is driven to become a global leader in AI by developing digital infrastructure and enhancing an integrated system that employs AI in all vital sectors.

The general principles of the Charter include:

1. Strengthening Human-Machine Ties

2. Safety

3. Algorithmic Bias

4. Data Privacy

5. Transparency

6. Human Oversight

7. Governance and Accountability

8. Technological Excellence

9. Human Commitment

10. Peaceful Coexistence with AI

11. Promoting AI Awareness for an Inclusive Future

12. Commitment to Treaties and Applicable Laws
