Google has rolled out a new Gemini AI side panel in Gmail that will facilitate writing emails and summarizing email threads. The search giant is also adding the Gemini side panel to Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Drive.

With the new feature integration, users can leverage Gemini in Gmail to get help drafting an email or receive suggested responses to an email. In addition, one can ask questions and find specific information from emails within the inbox or from the Google Drive files.

The feature can also be utilized to ask questions apart from email information. As of now, the new feature is only available to Google Workspace customers with a Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, a Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium subscription.

Of the many facilitations, Gemini can help one write, refine, and brainstorm content in Google Docs. In Slides, Gemini can be used to generate new slides and custom images, as well as summarize presentations.

Moreover, the Gemini panel can also help track and organize the data in sheets, apart from table creation, formula generation, and task assistance. Plus, in Drive, the Gemini panel can summarize documents and get quick facts about a project.

However, with the Gemini panel in Gmail, one will need to be a paid Gemini user to access the features in Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drive.
