As AI adoption accelerates, professionals who design, develop, and implement AI solutions experience a different job landscape compared to other tech workers. To assess these dynamics, Dice conducted its Q2 2024 Technology Professionals Sentiment Survey, gathering insights from 520 employed technology professionals and 390 human resources experts in the U.S.
The findings in the Tech Sentiment Report portray a unique blend of optimism and caution among AI professionals, while also exposing challenges faced by recruiters in sourcing AI talent.
For the survey, AI professionals have been classified as respondents who affirmed being responsible for designing, developing, or implementing AI solutions and systems for their company. The AI professionals constituted 23% of the survey base.
According to the survey findings, 58% of AI professionals are positive about their ability to secure a favorable new role, compared to 36% of other tech professionals who feel the same. When asked about changing employers in the next year, 73% of AI professionals affirmed, surpassing 65% of general tech professionals.
Further, 51% of AI professionals confirmed that AI projects are strategically valuable to the company, while 36% indicated that AI-related projects are primarily used to show stakeholders the company is doing something with AI.
Highlighting the usage of GenAI in work-related tasks, 18% of AI professionals use it every day, compared to 5% of other tech professionals. Similarly, 20% of AI professionals use GenAI a few times a week, unlike 16% of general tech professionals.
Furthermore, in response to the impact of GenAI in work, 36% of AI professionals confirm a significant impact, and 22% of other tech professionals feel the same. On the contrary, 8% of AI professionals and 26% of tech professionals stated that GenAI has no impact on their work.
Moreover, the survey responses from HR professionals highlighted active growth in demand for AI roles, as 82% anticipate demand for AI professionals to increase in the next 6 months.
