The White House is seeking public feedback on any existing federal statutes, regulations, agency rules, guidance, forms, and administrative processes that unnecessarily hinder the development, deployment, and adoption of AI in the United States.
The Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), in a request for information (RFI) posted to the Federal Register, encouraged the public to identify such bottlenecks across all sectors.
“Through this RFI, OSTP is seeking input from the public, including private sector organizations, industry groups, academia, state, local, and tribal governments, and any other interested parties, on priorities for such regulatory reform or other agency action necessary to promote AI innovation and adoption,” it said.
The OSTP is particularly interested in regulations that, while serving important purposes, include requirements or assumptions that may conflict with how AI systems operate or are designed to operate.
“Respondents are encouraged to identify regulations across all sectors where the underlying assumptions, technical requirements, or compliance frameworks may create unnecessary barriers to beneficial AI applications, even if the core policy objectives remain valid,” the OSTP added.
