The U.S. Department of State is developing a new artificial intelligence marketplace for its employees, according to reports. The new marketplace is designed to deliver specialized AI capabilities to its employees across the agency.
The report states that the marketplace will first focus on defining the model and data requirements for specific use cases, as well as implementing AI guardrails to ensure security for the department’s end users.
The new marketplace could be unveiled very soon within just a few months. It will not provide a single-vendor solution, but it will rather be a flexible platform designed to deploy multiple approved AI software applications.
Earlier this year, it was also reported that the DoS sought third-party generative AI (GenAI) models that can be tailored to its needs and utilized with a range of government data.
The notice stipulates that the LLM must comply with the Defense Department’s Impact Level 6 standards and have at least a moderate-level FedRAMP authorization for commercial software.
The agency seeks a platform capable of supporting various AI-enhanced workflows and securely processing and analyzing government data across different classification levels.
