The U.S. Department of the Navy has introduced the latest version of its Information Superiority Vision (ISV 2.0), which builds upon the 2020 IT modernization strategy by enhancing the Navy’s data management practices.
The updated ISV 2.0 focuses on transitioning to a data-centric organization, with key priorities including zero trust, cloud migration, and advanced data analytics.
“ISV 2.0 represents our continued commitment to securely move information from anywhere to anywhere to enable our warfighters to act at the speed of mission,” the Department of Navy Chief Information Officer (DON CIO) said in a LinkedIn post.
ISV 2.0 introduces new priorities, ranging from zero-trust cybersecurity to the divestment of outdated technology. The central theme across all these initiatives is the critical role of data – ensuring it is accessible, organized, and understandable for both human users and automated systems throughout the Navy and Marine Corps.
The aim is to transform DON into a modern, data-fluent organization that seamlessly produces and utilizes data for both warfighting and business operations.
Earlier this year, the US Navy granted Accenture Federal Services a US$789 million ten-year contract to bolster its cybersecurity operations.
The contract will see Accenture furnish the Navy's Program Executive Office, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, and Intelligence Program Manager, Warfare Cybersecurity with both onshore and offshore SHARKCAGE systems.
