The U.S. Government plans to hire around 1000 ‘tech talents’ in the coming days spanning multiple domains such as data science, AI, engineering and engineering managers among other roles. The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) recently announced the US Tech Force, an initiative to hire early-career technologists to serve across the Federal government.
“The Tech Force will tackle the most complex and large-scale civic and defense challenges of our era – from administering critical financial infrastructure at the Treasury Department to advancing cutting-edge programs at the Department of Defense – and everything in between,” the US Tech Force website states.
The tenure is expected to be for 2 years with salaries ranging from $150,000 to $200,000, depending on experience.
“If you’re thinking about, long term, a career in technology, there is no bigger and more complex set of problems than we face in the federal government,” OPM Director Scott Kupor told reporters.
To make this happen, the government is partnering with private sectors players such as Adobe, Amazon Web Services (AWS),Apple, Databricks, Dell Technologies, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, NVIDIA, OpenAI, Oracle, Palantir, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, Snowflake and Uber among others.
