The U.S. Federal Trade Commission recently announced it has received a $14.6 million grant from the Technology Modernization Fund (TMF) to significantly upgrade its data-processing infrastructure.

The FTC will use the grant to build a cloud-based analytics platform powered by AI tools, designed to accelerate its ability to analyze data used in investigations.

These enhancements are expected to reduce investigative data review timelines from weeks to hours, while reducing the agency’s reliance on external contractors—yielding both efficiency and cost savings.

The grant will help the FTC meet President Trump’s goal to make the government more efficient and cost effective by improving the agency’s ability to monitor and identify fraud and anti-competitive conduct.

The TMF support underscores the government’s commitment to modernizing critical IT systems across federal agencies. According to TMF guidelines, projects chosen must show high potential for success and tangible taxpayer benefits.
