The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has launched the Genesis Mission Consortium, a major public-private partnership aimed at harnessing artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate scientific discovery and spur innovation across energy and emerging technology sectors. The consortium unites the DOE, national laboratories, private companies, and academic institutions to support the department’s broader Genesis Mission, which seeks to bolster U.S. leadership in AI-enabled science.
“The Genesis Mission Consortium represents a bold step toward transforming the way we approach scientific challenges. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, we’re uniting government, industry, and academia to create a powerful engine for innovation that will drive breakthroughs across multiple disciplines,” DOE Under Secretary for Science and Genesis Mission Lead Dr. Darío Gil said.
According to the DOE, the consortium will serve as a centralized collaboration hub, helping to identify high-value partnerships, coordinate funding opportunities, and track project outcomes. Member-driven working groups will focus on key technical areas including AI model development and validation, data standards, high-performance computing, and robotics.
Administered by TechWerx and operated by RTI International, the consortium will also host annual meetings, workshops, and technology showcases to promote collaboration and innovation among members.
