The U.S. Army has launched Project ARIA (Army Rapid Implementation of Artificial Intelligence), a new initiative aimed at accelerating the adoption of artificial intelligence to modernize operations and better support soldiers in the field.
The program focuses on deploying practical AI tools that address operational challenges while improving efficiency across the Army.
Announced by Deputy Under Secretary of the Army David R. Fitzgerald, the initiative brings together leading technology companies and AI experts to develop solutions that can be implemented quickly. “Through Project ARIA, we are building the Army of tomorrow, today. By working with the nation’s top minds in artificial intelligence, we are rapidly developing and deploying smart tools that empower our Soldiers, streamline our operations, and ensure our readiness for any challenge,” Fitzgerald said.
Project ARIA originated from an AI tabletop exercise hosted by Secretary of the Army Daniel P. Driscoll in September 2025. The initiative currently focuses on three areas:
