The U.S. Army has introduced a new generative AI platform aimed at improving communication and boosting operational efficiency across a variety of functions — from drafting press releases to reclassifying personnel descriptions and more.
Named the Army Enterprise Large Language Model Workspace, the platform is designed to modernize how the Army handles internal communications and data-driven tasks. It enables automation of routine administrative duties and fosters innovation across units.
The platform is powered by Ask Sage, a cutting-edge multi-model generative AI technology tailored for Army needs. “The platform leverages technologies such as Azure OpenAI Gov, Mistral, LLM3A.3.3, AWS Bedrock Gov, Google Gemini and several open-source LLMs,” the Army said in a press release.
With SaaS-based access, no installations are required. It’s free for 30 days for CAC users, uses a token-based model, and will expand to SIPRNET and higher networks by the end of May. By embedding this technology into everyday workflows, the Army seeks to cut down on time-intensive tasks and redirect human effort toward higher-priority, mission-critical objectives.
To promote early adoption, the Army offers 30 days of free access, after which a token-based subscription—issued in limited quantities by the Army CIO—is required for continued use.
In a fitting showcase of its potential, the Army used the AI tool itself to write the press release announcing its launch.
