Trump Unveils $500B ‘Stargate’ AI Project with OpenAI, SoftBank, and Oracle
The Trump administration has launched a centralized online platform, Councils.gov, consolidating resources for multiple federal interagency councils while preparing to retire several standalone websites, Federal News Network reported.
The new portal, which went live last week, brings together information for 10 councils, including the Chief Information Officers Council, Chief AI Officers Council, and Chief Data Officers Council. According to the site, the councils play a key role in advancing administration priorities by leveraging shared expertise across agencies.
“By leveraging the collective expertise of their members, the councils strengthen core functional areas within the government and implement administration priorities,” the website states.
The Councils.gov domain was reportedly registered in December, signaling a months-long transition effort. Officials say legacy council websites will be decommissioned by the end of the month, with “core content” migrated to the new hub — though questions remain about what information will be retained.
Nick Hart, president and CEO of the Data Foundation, said the move could improve coordination and communication across government, given the overlap in council activities. However, he emphasized the importance of maintaining a user-focused experience that ensures accessibility for both federal employees and the public.
