Palantir Technologies’ Maven system, a data-centric command and control (C2) platform embedded with advanced artificial intelligence capabilities, is set to become an official U.S. military program of record, according to a letter from Steve Feinberg, signaling long-term adoption of the company’s battlefield targeting technology, Reuters reported.
The move formalizes Maven’s role as a core command-and-control platform across the United States Department of Defense, with implementation expected by the end of the fiscal year in September. Feinberg said the system would equip warfighters with advanced tools to “detect, deter, and dominate” adversaries.
Maven analyzes vast streams of battlefield data from satellites, drones, and sensors to identify potential targets in real time. Designating it as a program of record ensures stable funding and accelerates deployment across military branches.
The report also suggested that oversight will shift to the Pentagon’s Chief Digital and AI Office, while the Army will handle future contracts.
The decision marks a major win for Palantir, amid rising demand for AI-driven defense capabilities, even as experts warn of ethical risks tied to automated targeting systems.
Last September, the U.S. Marine Corps signed a contract with Palantir Technologies to provide an enterprise-wide license for the Maven Smart System.
