The U.S. National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has issued a request for proposals for a $708 million data labeling project. This initiative, known as Sequoia, will be a single-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract with a ceiling of up to $708 million over a potential ordering period of seven years.
This represents NGA’s largest data labeling effort to date and aims to enhance critical geospatial intelligence capabilities in artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The Sequoia IDIQ is designed to encompass data labeling activities that support GEOINT AI and machine learning capabilities across various programs and directorates within the NGA, the National System for GEOINT, and the Department of Defense.
“For example, the IDIQ contract will support the NGA Maven Program, which applies AI capabilities to intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance sensors and platforms, primarily through computer vision. The NGA Maven CV algorithms, which rely heavily on robust data labeling, can perform a number of automated tasks, including but not limited to object detection, object tracking, object classification and pattern detection,” NGA said in a media update.
