The U.S. Marine Corps has announced the launch of the FY26 Marine Corps Artificial Intelligence (AI) Fellowship programs, in partnership with the Department of the Air Force (DAF).
Selected Marines will collaborate with airmen and leading experts at MIT and the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) to develop advanced AI solutions. The program aims to accelerate innovation from the field to the front lines.
The fellowship aims to produce real-world, actionable AI capabilities by embedding service members into interdisciplinary teams focused on solving complex problems across the Department of Defense (DOD).
Participants will develop and refine algorithms and tools tailored to mission needs while contributing to broader advancements in the AI domain.
“All applications will include an AI use case as the primary project that will be worked on throughout the fellowship. To ensure candidates can begin work immediately and maximize the productivity of their time in the program, this use case must be endorsed by the command, unclassified, actionable, and the applicant must have access to, or reasonably assume they will be able to obtain the necessary data,” Marine Corp said.
Each cohort includes two Marines at MIT and up to six at NPS. Applications, including a command-backed, unclassified, actionable AI use case, are due by October 26, 2025.
