Airmen at Luke Air Force Base are helping shape how the U.S. Air Force integrates artificial intelligence into everyday operations, with a focus on improving efficiency, accelerating decision-making and strengthening mission effectiveness.
AI is being used to review policies, study industry and Department of the Air Force use cases, and assess practical applications for training, administration and operational workflows.
“The question was simple: How do we integrate AI into everything? What are the exceptions and what are the constraints? I didn’t really know what I was getting into, but once we started digging into it, we realized how big this actually is,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Curtis Wright, 944th Operations Group commander’s support staff development and training noncommissioned officer in charge.
The Air Force said a base-wide survey of more than 170 Airmen revealed growing interest in AI, but also uncertainty around approved tools and practical applications.
In response, the team tested AI for tasks ranging from email drafting and data analysis to maintenance troubleshooting and institutional knowledge preservation.
Luke AFB further plans to expand AI literacy, improve awareness of approved tools and promote secure, mission-focused adoption across the force.
