The Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) is preparing for growth in its out-of-the-continental United States (OCONUS) cloud environment, anticipating an expansion of both private and commercial cloud programs, Meritalk reported.
DISA is continuing to expand its Joint Operational Edge (JOE) commercial cloud capability, which was launched last year with locations in Hawaii, Japan, and Germany. These sites are situated at major U.S. military bases, accommodating tens of thousands of personnel and serving as vital overseas hubs for the Defense Department (DoD).
The agency plans to expand to additional regions worldwide over the next 12 to 18 months. Matt Quinn, JOE Product Owner, stated at the AFCEA TechNet Indo-Pacific conference in Honolulu that the agency aims to deploy JOE in more Indo-Pacific locations as well as to U.S. European Command and Central Command (CENTCOM).
