CMS Awards $72 Mn Contract to Modernize its Health Plan Management System

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has granted a US$ 72 million contract to CGI Federal Inc. (CGI) to assist in the modernization of the agency's Health Plan Management System (HPMS).

CGI will enhance the plan enrollment and compliance procedures for more than 800 private health and drug plans participating in the Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D (MAPD) programs.

“Through our comprehensive healthcare industry knowledge and deep technical expertise, we will deliver innovative solutions that enable CMS to meet the evolving expectations of program beneficiaries,” says Ksheeraja Velangulam, CGI Vice-President, Consulting Services, and Lead for CGI’s HPMS Engagement. 

CGI will offer solutions to enhance the annual lifecycle activities necessary for the effective implementation of each MAPD plan. It will also provide strategic business and technical solutions to develop a comprehensive website aimed at improving the user experience of HPMS. 

With over 70 software modules of different sizes and complexities, HPMS facilitates vital functions affecting 65 million Medicare beneficiaries enrolling in MAPD health plans. Additionally, HPMS includes a Plan Management Dashboard that organizes data and visually presents key performance indicators for CMS and health plan executives.
