The U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Chief Information Officer (CIO) Bob Costello said the agency plans to broaden its use of AI across operations after seeing substantial value from its early deployments, the Meritalk reported.
CISA initially applied AI to back-office tasks and document summarization. Now, the agency plans to broaden its use, including speeding up penetration testing, pilot automated patch management for low-risk systems and test AI-driven attack-path visualizations, which, according to Costello, is “super helpful.”
He noted, AI can pinpoint which vulnerabilities truly matter, reducing time spent on high-score but low-impact issues.
Earlier this year, CISA released the AI Cybersecurity Collaboration Playbook, a guidance document designed to strengthen collaboration and information sharing within the Artificial Intelligence (AI) ecosystem to address cybersecurity threats effectively.
The playbook promotes collaboration among federal agencies, private industry, international partners, and other stakeholders to enhance awareness of AI cybersecurity risks and resilience.
