New Home; Timeless Charm

Krista and Bret Parrish and their children were ready for a new look for their new home that was built in Liberty Township’s Carriage Hill community.

“We wanted a welcoming, family-friendly house,” Krista says. Heeding a recommendation from friends, the Parrishes turned to Designs on Madison to help make their vision a reality.

Amy Holt and Jill Koch, interior designers at Designs on Madison, took the Parrishes’ plans and worked closely with the builder, Ian Rise of Arthur Rutenberg Homes. “Having them work together made our build super enjoyable,” Krista says.

The firm chose furnishings, rugs and window treatments that worked perfectly with the four-bedroom house and its timeless finishes. The meticulous collaboration paid off. “When we moved in, the furniture was ready,” Krista says. In addition to the new pieces, Designs on Madison incorporated antiques the couple already owned and treasured, such as a china cupboard that had been in Krista’s mother’s family.

One of the family’s favorite spaces is the hearth room. With its fireplace, piano and cozy furnishings selected by Designs on Madison, the room is a place to retreat and relax, Krista says.

Designs on Madison also offers custom furniture, window treatments, wall finishes, artwork selections, lighting and accessories to residential clients. The firm works on model homes and consistently takes part in local Homearama events. Commercial clients work with Designs on Madison for guidance in choosing furnishings, finishes, wall coverings and artwork for office buildings, country clubs, restaurants, hotels and more.

For the Parrishes, working with an interior design firm just made sense. It saved them from wasting time and making mistakes in furniture choices. “I showed them the look I wanted and they helped me achieve it,” Krista says.

Designs on Madison helped create a family home that has gone beyond the family’s expectations. “They took the guesswork out of things. Amy and Jill just knew the right answers,” Krista says. “It’s been really fun to make a design around how we live as a family.”
