A Proposal in Paradise

My boyfriend and I were so lucky to take a trip to Mexico for a holiday winter getaway. We were staying at a beautiful all inclusive resort. This trip was also special because my family was also able to join us at the resort. I was looking forward to relaxing pool side and having fun in the sun. I had no idea that my life would change too!

On our second night at the resort the entertainment team put on a karaoke talent show with a live band. My boyfriend signed up immediately and was the first contestant to rehearse with the band. Little did I know he was also rehearsing for a show time proposal! Moreover, he talked to my four sisters and niece the night before about his plans and asked for their permission.

When it was his turn to take the stage he invited me to join him, so I was preparing myself for a sweet serenade. However, when I got on stage he said "I have a very important question to ask you…" Of course I immediately burst in to tears and then he said "I was just going to see if you wanted to see the new Star Wars movie with me." We all had a laugh but then he got down on one knee. He told me how I have made him the happiest man and a better man. Through my tears I was able to see a sparkling ring and said yes as an audience of about 200 clapped and cheered. 

My new fiancé gave a stellar performance and we became the most popular couple at the resort. Many people came up to us to say congratulations. One couple who was not at the show saw the proposal on Instagram. Another person asked if we were actors in the show. It was no act! We spent the next five days in Mexico celebrating our new Facebook status.
