A Collective Commitment for Quality and Comfort

Designs on Madison offers a menu of interior design services from Cincinnati’s best talent, each of whom is committed to working in true collaboration with their clients. Their portfolio showcases a full spectrum of specialties – from buttoned-up commercial design to the coziest of residential design.

 For Carol Laux and Dean Kurth, modernizing their 7,000-square-foot, more than 100-year-old home led them to seek the expertise of the Designs on Madison team. "I never could have done this without the designers’ expertise," says Laux. "They took my vision of blending traditional and modern elements and made it exactly what I wanted."

The floor plan was opened up and included a complete redesign of the kitchen, master bedroom and bath. Contractor Rocky deStefano of deStefano Brothers Remodeling and interior designers Amy Holt and Jill Koch worked closely with Laux and Kurth to come up with options.

"We’ve worked with Carol and Dean for years and had fun picking out unique and fun accents to really make it their home," says Holt.

Some of Holt’s and Koch’s favorite accents include the kitchen backsplash, steel iron beams used as legs for the island (Laux’s idea) and updating an old master suite chandelier. The master suite, which used to have a small bath between two bedrooms, is now Laux’s favorite space in her home. It features a spacious master bath with ample vanity space, a gorgeous walk-in shower and a bathtub in front of a cozy fireplace.

"We wanted to make their home feel more modern and in line with their tastes," says Koch. The designers accomplished this by choosing modern colors and accents to punch up the ambiance of the rooms. Holt also accompanied Laux and Kurth to an artist’s studio in order to help select two pieces of art that would complement the home’s updated motif.

"It’s so easy to work with everyone at Designs on Madison and they go out of their way for their clients," says Laux. "We never had to go out shopping for things, we simply visited the design studio where Jill and Amy pulled pieces together that were perfect for us. We absolutely love the end result."
