Distinctive Gifts with a Hometown Feel

A conversation with Cathy Daniels is sprinkled with anecdotes about growing up in Milford. And that hometown vibe is what she brings to Scintilla on Main.

Daniels acquired the store in August, and has been busy stocking the expanded space with new lines. The store’s focus on unique, high quality gifts makes it the perfect destination for wedding or bridal shower shoppers. They also carry Coton Colors and Nora Fleming, lines of interchangeable serveware popular among collectors.

Among the distinctive décor and festive holiday tableware, you’ll find bags by Mona B, chic accessories made from upcycled military tarps. Other items include Bottle Breachers, perfect gifts for groomsmen and as well as locally made products.

"We’re trying to get a larger variety of items to appeal to a wider range of people," says Daniels. "We’re putting in things for older children, for example, and we’re putting in more things for men. So we’re trying to get to the point where no matter who comes in, there’s something for everybody."

The whimsical items from Think Outside, such as a pickup truck-shaped cooler made of recycled oil drums, are another example of the owner’s desire to carry sustainable gift items and firmly cements Scintilla on Main as the go-to place to find a gift item that is truly special.  "We try to carry things you can’t find anywhere else," says Daniels. 

Future plans include an expanded website and gift registry. One thing that won’t change: the strongly rooted sense of family and community of the owner. And Daniels is a big part of that. "I love working with people," she says. "You won’t find nicer people than the ones that come in here and shop."
