Dean Ball, The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) AI Policy Advisor

(US and Canada) The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) has appointed Dean Ball as a senior policy advisor focused on AI and emerging technologies.
Ball joins a team that includes OSTP Director Michael Kratsios, who also serves as Assistant to the President for Science and Technology, and Sriram Krishnan, another senior policy advisor specializing in AI.
His appointment follows a recent directive from President Donald Trump, who, in a letter to Kratsios, urged a heightened focus on advancing technologies such as AI, quantum computing, and nuclear innovation.
“I am happy to announce that I have joined the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy as a Senior Policy Advisor on AI and Emerging Technology. It is a thrill and honor to serve my country in this role and work alongside the tremendous team Director Michael Kratsios has built,” Ball wrote in a LinkedIn post.
Prior to this role, Ball was a research fellow at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University, where he contributed to the Artificial Intelligence and Progress Project.
He also previously served as senior program manager for the State and Local Governance Initiative at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution and director of the Adam Smith Society at the Manhattan Institute.
