Andrew McMullan, Westpac Chief Data, Digital and AI Officer
(APAC) Australian multinational banking and financial services major Westpac has announced the appointment of Andrew McMullan, PhD as its new Chief Data, Digital and AI Officer, effective September 2025. In this role, he will report directly to CEO Anthony Miller and lead the bank’s data strategy, digital innovation, and artificial intelligence initiatives.
McMullan brings extensive experience from his previous position as Chief Data and Analytics Officer at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. At Westpac, he will focus on advancing the responsible use of data and AI to enhance experiences for both customers and employees.
CEO Anthony Miller described the appointment as a significant step in strengthening Westpac’s strategic priorities in data, digital, and AI. “Andrew’s expertise and leadership will help us unify these functions and further our transformation into a service-driven organization,” Miller said.
McMullan will collaborate closely with Chief Information Officer Scott Collary and the broader executive team to build on the progress made over the past five years. His contributions will also support the ongoing implementation of UNITE, the bank’s strategic program aimed at simplifying and modernizing operations.
Holding a PhD in Statistics from the University of Glasgow, Dr. McMullan has led global efforts in building scalable digital and AI solutions, with a consistent focus on ethical innovation and improving financial outcomes for customers and communities.
