Sonney Sapra, UVA Health Chief Information Officer
UVA Health has named Sonney Sapra as its new Chief Information Officer. He will provide strategic and operational leadership for the information and digital systems supporting UVA Health’s missions of patient care, research, and education.
Sapra brings nearly 15 years of experience in health system information technology leadership. He most recently served as Senior Vice President and Chief Digital and Information Officer at Samaritan Health Services and Health Plan. He previously held the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer at University of Louisville Health from 2018 to 2021 and served as Chief Information Officer at Oregon Health & Science University’s Hillsboro Medical Center from 2010 to 2017.
Sapra holds a Certified Healthcare Chief Information Officer credential from the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives. He earned a bachelor’s degree in audio engineering from Middlesex University in London and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Oregon. He was named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s Chief Information Officers to Know list in 2024 and 2025.
