Andrew Vanjani, USCIS Chief Information Officer

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), part of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), has named Andrew Vanjani as Chief Information Officer. In this role, he will lead the agency’s technology organization supporting its mission to deliver immigration and citizenship services.

In a LinkedIn post, Vanjani outlined his focus as CIO on strengthening USCIS’ technological edge across three key areas:

  • Fortifying integrity through emerging technologies to stay ahead of evolving fraud and identity risks
  • Evolving the agency’s infrastructure by designing a future-ready digital architecture that scales with operational demand, and
  • Advancing service delivery through technology to ensure timely, fair outcomes while safeguarding national security

Vanjani also noted that USCIS operates within a complex ecosystem where technology serves as the backbone of integrity and the engine of efficiency.

Prior to joining USCIS, Vanjani served as Chief Information Officer and Director of General Services at the Organization of American States (OAS). He has also served as Assistant Cabinet Secretary and Chief Operating Officer at the Maryland Department of Information Technology and held senior roles at the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA), including Director of the Integrated Award Environment.
