Pavan Pidugu, US Department of Transportation CIO
(US and Canada) The U.S. Department of Transportation has appointed Pavan Pidugu as Chief Information Officer. Pidugu brings over two decades of experience in technology leadership and innovation, having previously worked with global retailers such as Target, NCR, and Walmart before transitioning to the federal government in 2020.
Before this role, Pidugu served as Chief Technology Officer at the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), where he led a major transformation in federal technology development and delivery. His leadership at FMCSA resulted in the creation of an outcome-driven digital strategy aimed at improving safety enforcement for commercial vehicle transportation. He also played a key role in modernizing Walmart’s digital customer and omnichannel experience, implementing product management principles and design thinking into technology development.
Earlier in his career, Pidugu launched an offshore IT development center in India for Target, scaling it from 5 to 500 employees in just two years. At NCR, he developed strategic solutions for retail clients, helping drive growth through omnichannel product roadmaps. His expertise in integrating technology, people, and processes has earned him industry recognition, including the World 100 Technology Leaders 2024 award for his contributions to the field.
Committed to aligning technology strategy with business priorities, Pidugu focuses on driving innovation while fostering leadership development. His appointment signals a continued emphasis on modernizing technology infrastructure within the Department of Transportation.
