(US and Canada) The U.S. Department of State recently appointed Marvin King as the Bureau Chief Data Officer for the S Bureau (Secretary of State). With over 26 years of experience, King is a seasoned Operations Research Professional and Practitioner of Strategic Assessments, renowned for his ability to lead teams in conducting operations, analysis, and solving complex challenges. Notably, he has spearheaded multiple analyses and coordination efforts in support of the Army’s Information Technology Convergence initiatives.

A leader in the enhancement of strategic and operations assessments, King actively contributes to academic discourse through publications and serves as the Associate Editor of two technical military journals. He also holds volunteer positions, including serving on the Board of Directors of the Military Operations Research Society.

King’s leadership extends to managing outstanding teams amidst high operational tempo and evolving missions, fostering an energetic and positive culture. Recognized for his mentoring skills, he was awarded Mentor of the Year by the U.S. Department of State for his contributions to the development of virtual interns.
