Amanda Day, US Department of Homeland Security Deputy CISO
(US and Canada) The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has named Amanda Day as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer and Deputy Executive Director. With over 16 years of experience in IT and Information Security roles at DHS, Day brings extensive expertise in strengthening and managing cybersecurity operations within the federal government.
In her new role, Day will contribute to enhancing the Department’s cybersecurity defenses. Her responsibilities include overseeing critical information security programs that support national security systems, developing and implementing comprehensive security policies, managing cybersecurity risks, and conducting in-depth security assessments. She will also ensure DHS’s compliance with federal laws, directives, executive orders, and policies to protect the integrity of its systems in a continually evolving threat environment.
Day’s career highlights include serving as Branch Manager of the DHS Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) and as Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Science & Technology Directorate, where she led complex cybersecurity initiatives for DHS’s research and development efforts. She also held several key roles at U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), focusing on governance, policy, cybersecurity architecture, training, FISMA compliance, and IT security risk management.
Day holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from Strayer University and is widely recognized for her commitment to advancing cybersecurity within DHS.
