Katie Arrington, US Department of Defense CIO
(US and Canada) The United States Department of Defense (DoD) has appointed Katie Arrington as its Chief Information Officer (CIO). Arrington brings extensive experience in cybersecurity, policy, and supply chain security, having previously served as the first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the Undersecretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (A&S).
During her tenure at the DoD, she played a key role in the White House COVID-19 Supply Chain Task Force for Acceleration and led the development of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC). Her work has focused on enhancing national security through cybersecurity and supply chain visibility.
Before rejoining the DoD, Arrington was Senior Vice President of External Affairs at Exiger, where she worked on issues related to supply chain security, artificial intelligence, and national security. She also has experience in both government and the private sector, having served two terms as a South Carolina State Representative and held senior cybersecurity roles at Booz Allen Hamilton, Centuria Corporation, and Dispersive Networks.
As DoD CIO, Arrington will oversee the department’s technology strategy, cybersecurity policies, and digital modernization efforts to strengthen national defense and operational readiness.
