The University of Pennsylvania has elevated Joshua Beeman to Vice President for Information Technology and University Chief Information Officer. Beeman assumes the role after serving as Interim Vice President of IT and CIO since September 2025.

He brings nearly 16 years of experience at Penn, most recently holding the position of Associate Vice President of IT and Associate CIO, where he led campus-wide IT initiatives and strengthened enterprise technology services to support operational efficiency and the university’s broader digital strategy.

Over the course of his tenure, Beeman has held several leadership roles, including IT Executive Director and University Information Security Officer. His work has focused on advancing the technology infrastructure that supports the university’s research, teaching, and service missions.

Beyond the university, Beeman has contributed to the broader technology and research community. He previously served as an inaugural member of the Technical Advisory Committee for the Federal Reserve Bank and currently chairs the Technical Advisory Committee for the International Computer Science Institute.

In announcing the appointment, Executive Vice President Mark Dingfield highlighted Beeman’s impact and leadership, noting his advancement of Penn’s technology infrastructure and his “deep institutional knowledge and relationships, broad national standing, and a clear vision for what comes next.”
