(EMEA) The UK Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO) has recently appointed Craig Suckling as Government Chief Data Officer. Suckling will take up office in March. He joins from Amazon Web Services (AWS) where he served as Head of Data Strategy – Worldwide.
The CDDO is part of the UK Cabinet Office and it leads the Government Digital and Data function.
Suckling's appointment comes at a crucial juncture as governments worldwide increasingly recognize the pivotal role of data in shaping policy and driving innovation. With over 20 years as an analytics, data, and AIML leader, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise in innovating for the future, developing transformation strategies, navigating change, and generating sustainable growth, positioning him as a valuable addition to the CDDO in its pursuit of a data-driven government.
“I am massively honored to be given the opportunity to soon be taking on the role of UK Government CDO. We are in a moment of unprecedented and discontinuous change with data and AI, and I look forward to helping to continue the journey to transform how our government adds value to all our lives,” Suckling said in a LinkedIn post.
“We will build on the foundations of the National Data Strategy and Digital and Data roadmap, and work backwards from our customers, the UK citizens, to inform priorities,” he added.
