Truist Appoints Dean Harrelson as Corporate Functions CDO

(US and Canada) American bank holding company Truist has appointed Dean Harrelson as Corporate Functions – Chief Data Officer. Harrelson is a technology executive with over 25 years of experience designing, building, and operating Financial Systems at top U.S.-based banks.

Harrelson has deep experience driving the “case for change” required to attract consensus and investment for major finance transformation initiatives, individual system implementations, or system “evergreening” operations. He has managed operations for large teams typically consisting of 100-300 geographically widespread people in various mixes of full-time employees, contractors, and project-focused consulting teams.

Through Harrelson’s dual responsibilities around Finance Technology and Finance Data at SunTrust and now Truist, he has deep experience in driving the acquisition of data and the controls environment required to meet the regulatory reporting needs for CCAR, Y9C, 2052A, etc.

Harrelson has long-standing relationships with major software and services vendors in the finance technology space. He has managed numerous engagements and implementations with Oracle, SAP, QRM, and others. Additionally, he has participated in various conferences and customer advisory boards helping vendors prioritize functionality and enhancements based on industry needs.
