Sam Han, The Washington Post Chief AI Officer

(US and Canada) The Washington Post has appointed Sam Han as its first Chief AI Officer, a move that highlights the organization’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence as part of its broader digital strategy. The announcement was shared by Chief Technology Officer Vineet Khosla in a recent update.

Han previously served as Head of Data and AI at the Post, where he led the development of AI-powered tools aimed at improving editorial workflows and enhancing audience experiences.

With a Ph.D. in Computer Science and nearly eight years at the company, Han brings deep technical expertise and a strong understanding of newsroom innovation to this newly created role.

As Chief AI Officer, Han will lead efforts to scale and govern the responsible use of AI across the organization, helping to shape product development while supporting The Post’s mission of delivering high-quality, fact-based journalism.
